Biography

Sarah responds intuitively to each of the landscapes that she has walked and seeks to capture the elemental nature and energy of a place rather than to record a literal interpretation. At times, she focuses on small details, such as a single flower: at others, she captures the entire landscape.

Sarah is a colourist, so you can expect to see paintings bursting with colour, joy, energy and a life force. Dynamic, gestural mark making creates movement and rhythm. like notes on a score. Sarah hand draws her story onto the canvas. Pops of colour punctuate layers of paint which like patina, have been built up and scrapped back over time. Her paintings feature a mixture of sweeping brush strokes, palette knife work, dripping paint, and of course her trademark; spray paint dots. This adds both depth and textural variety to her outcomes.

Sarah’s studio is nestled within the Surrey Hills.
