Biography

Gill is a Uk based artist and Printmaker based in Nottinghamshire with a background in textile design for luxury fabric and wallpaper brands.  She has a lifelong love of colour and pattern and now works full time as an artist.

Gill's paintings are created in a series, often working on four to eight paintings at a time.  Her paintings begin with lots of play and mark making, following her intuition.  She may use colours and shapes which are unfamilier but just enjoys the process of applying paint, usually acrylic onto birch panels.  As the paintings develop Gill starts to refine the compositions and introduce the final intended colour palette.  Colour and mark making, along with pattern are the elements which excite her most.  She enjoys exploring differences in Colour, in tonal value, in size of shapes and ultimately creates a painting which allows the viewer to explore the entire surface area and then look deeper into it.  Gill loves the hidden history of revealing marks or unexpected colours which have been buried deep below the surface.
