Biography
Emma is an established artist who works between her native homeland of Northern Ireland and her London studio. Her emotive mixed media landscape paintings occupy the space between soft abstraction and impressionism, and set out to explore the power of nature and its effects on human consciousness.

Each painting quietly demands closer inspection, at which point they start to reveal some of their many contradictions. Paintings feel soft yet are inherently 'rich'; built up using multiple layers of fluid pigments washes, allowed to dry of their own accord, and successful 'happy accidents' granted space of their own in which to flaunt.

Paintings feature surface texture and strike a careful balance between  intentional mark-making and those that are intuitive, free and fluid. There is a careful balance; dialectic tensions between light and dark, horizontal and vertical axis, splashes of strong colour and places for quiet colour, that all slowly draw the viewer's gaze.

Emma has exhibited widely across the UK and Ireland, her work is held in a number of private collections both here and Internationally. Her work has been featured in a number of leading magazines including Homes & Gardens, The London Evening Standard, and Coast magazine. In 2023 she was invited as a special 'Spotlight Artist' for the inauguration of the new Women in Art Fair exhibition at the Mall Galleries as part of Frieze Art Week.
